Rich Winslow
Rich Winslow has been a driving force in advancing girls’ and women’s soccer for over 30 years.

Rich Winslow is a highly respected and influential figure in North Carolina youth soccer, whose career spans more than three decades of exceptional coaching, leadership, and service. His legacy is defined by an unwavering commitment to player development, competitive excellence, and the sustained growth of girls’ and women’s soccer at the local, regional, and national levels.
Rich began his coaching journey with the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association, serving as Head Coach of the GYSA Tigers at the U-8 and U-10 recreational levels. As his passion and impact grew, he transitioned into competitive soccer, where he became a cornerstone of the Greensboro Twisters Soccer Club. Over the years, he led numerous Twisters teams across multiple age groups, including the 1976, 1982, and 1986 Twisters, as well as U-17 and U-19 teams. His 2002 U-17 team earned a coveted place in the Region III Premier League, reflecting the elite standard of preparation and performance under his guidance.
Rich’s coaching résumé includes nine state championship teams, assistance with five additional state title teams, three regional finalist teams, and four regional bronze medalists. Two of his teams advanced to the USYSA Final Four, with one finishing as a National Finalist—an extraordinary testament to his ability to develop players and teams capable of competing at the highest levels. In addition to his head coaching roles, Rich served as an Assistant Coach for the 1978 Twisters from 1989 to 1996, contributing to the development of numerous players who went on to elite playing careers.
In 2004, Rich expanded his influence to the semi-professional ranks as Head Coach of the Carolina Dynamo Women in the W-League, one of the premier women’s soccer platforms in the United States at the time. Later in his career, he continued to shape young athletes as Head Coach of the Canterbury School girls’ soccer program from 2018 to 2019.
Beyond the touchline, Rich Winslow has been a trusted leader and administrator within the soccer community. He served on the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors, acted as Girls Classic Fall Season Director, and contributed to the GYSA Classic Committee. He also held the role of Vice President on the Greensboro Twisters Executive Committee. At the state level, Rich was an Executive Board Member of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association and served as Vice President for Women’s Classic Soccer, helping guide policy, competition structures, and opportunities that strengthened the women’s game statewide.
Rich’s impact extends far beyond wins and championships. Over the course of his career, he positively influenced the lives of countless young women, many of whom advanced to collegiate soccer, coaching careers, and leadership roles within the sport. He is widely admired for fostering confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of the game.
His exceptional contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including NCYSA Girls Classic Coach of the Year (1992), GYSA Girls Coach of the Year (1996), and the GYSA Spirit of the Game Award (2003).
Rich Winslow’s dedication, integrity, and vision have left an enduring imprint on girls’ and women’s soccer in North Carolina. His induction into the Hall of Fame honors a career defined by excellence, service, and a lasting legacy of opportunity and inspiration for generations of players.
